Baptism Gifts They’ll Keep: Scripture Art for a Child, Godchild or Adult

A baptism is one of the few days a family will remember for decades, and most of what people give for it ends up in a drawer: a silver trinket, a card, a keepsake box. The gift that lasts is the one that hangs on a wall, where the child grows up walking past it.

Below are the pieces from our catalogue that suit a baptism, what each one actually shows, and how to choose between a printable, a fine art print and a framed canvas. None of them depicts the baptism itself. They carry the things a baptism is about: being called by name, being welcomed, being cared for.

Who is it for?

A baby or young child

Choose something gentle that suits a nursery or a small bedroom. Jesus with Girl shows Jesus bending down to take a small girl’s hand. Jesus with Boy shows Jesus walking beside a boy, holding his hand. Both are soft watercolour scenes on a pale cream ground, so they sit easily in a child’s room.

“Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.” — Mark 10:14, NKJV

A godchild or an older child

For a child who is old enough to remember the day, a shepherd piece grows with them. The Good Shepherd is a quiet, minimal print of a shepherd with his flock, with John 8:12 written across it: “I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Psalm 23 is the larger statement. A shepherd stands on a green hillside at sunrise with his flock, and the opening of the psalm is printed above the hills. It is a framed canvas from $99.99.

An adult being baptized

Jesus Carrying the Lost Lamb is the most striking piece in the shepherd group: Jesus holding a lamb close against his shoulder, in warm light. It illustrates Luke 15:4-6, the shepherd who goes after the one that wandered. For someone who has come to faith later in life, it says what the day means. It comes as a framed canvas only.

Verses to write in the card

The art stays the art. A handwritten card with the date and a verse is what makes it theirs. Three that fit a baptism:

  • “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine.” — Isaiah 43:1, NKJV
  • “For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.” — Galatians 3:27, NKJV
  • “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” — Matthew 28:19, NKJV

Three ways to give it, by budget

  • Framed canvas, from $99.99 — the piece that goes on the wall and stays. It is hand-stretched over solid pine and arrives framed, ready to hang.
  • Fine art print, from $34.99 — an archival print, unframed, that the family can frame to suit the room.
  • Printable, $7.99 — an instant download. Print it at home and put it in a frame with the card.

Jesus with Girl and Jesus with Boy come in all three formats. Psalm 23 comes as a canvas and a fine art print; its printable is a different, scripture-text design. The Good Shepherd is a fine art print, and Jesus Carrying the Lost Lamb is canvas only. Check each product page for the exact formats and sizes before you order.

Sizing

For an infant’s nursery, an 11″×14″ canvas ($99.99) is usually enough; nurseries have small walls. For an older child, an 18″×24″ canvas ($159.99) reads as a piece they will grow into.

Getting it there on time

A printable can be downloaded the moment you pay, which suits a gift you remembered late. Framed canvases and fine art prints are made to order and shipped free within the US. Most orders arrive within about two weeks, so if the baptism date is fixed, order about three weeks ahead.

What we don’t do

We don’t engrave names or print dates on the art. If you want it personal, write on the card.
